Texas World Speedway 2005

We were greeted Saturday morning with searing heat for tech inspection.

After tech it was time to stage and get on track.

For those who don't have helmets, they can borrow one from the friendly Amanda store at the exit of the staging area. Amanda was busy all day as you might expect.
Dell Hughes, our host for the weekend, was a fixture at the pit out/black flag station. He told me once that he really enjoyed yelling at drivers who were bad on track. This man may have a future in motor sports.
Right: The ever present SVT trailer full of goodies and transporter of the Cobra car collection.

Bottom: Yours truly for my 2005 Texas pose with the 2005 Mustang GT brought in by Ford for the weekend. A donation to the sponsor charity got you a ride, at speed, on the track.

Below Right: Scott Ahlman, a chassis designer at Ford, was the Mustang GT jockey for the weekend. He did many laps and made much money for the sponsor charity.

Right: Dell, Me and Jeff Lacina in a photo op with the GT.

Below: As a treat for the folks at the track, a group of American Iron  cars did a three lap mock race. That's John George and Wayne Manor side by side in the front row. Here's the start.. Green, Green, Green.

Below Right: Yours truly posing below the Texas World Speedway infield sign. Man was it hot!
